London, 24 November 2020
A leading group of London-based international distributors - namely all3media International, Banijay Rights, eOne, Fremantle, and ITV Studios - which has long been working together to coordinate their spring screening events, today announced the establishment of The London Screenings.
While the screenings have been taking place for several years around the time of BBC Studios Showcase, from March 2021 The London Screenings will be officially named as such and will take place as an annual event led by the group. The London Screenings will launch on 1 March 2021 following on from the BBC Studios Showcase, which is scheduled to take place from 22-24 February 2021.
The event will be held virtually next year – with a view to a return to live physical events from 2022.
A spokesperson said; “Over previous years, the week in London post BBC Studios Showcase has become a destination for key buyers around the world. This has been down to the calibre of the events and presentations arranged by the key London-based distributors.
Having listened to our buyers, the logical evolution is for those companies to bring buyers a fully curated series of quality showcases across two weeks, each planned to avoid screening conflicts and all under the official banner of The London Screenings".
The extended timeframe allows for the demands on buyers’ time in virtual world.
